The Volusia Real Property Council welcomed Jay St. Lawrence, Fund Legal Education Attorney to their meeting on March 5th where he presented Digital Closings & Remote Online Notarization for a packed house of over fifty members.

Beginning in mid-March, coronavirus began derailing scheduled live REC meetings and Realtor® events but that didn’t stop many RECs from adjusting to a virtual world.

On March 26th, The Fund hosted an online meeting for members of the Broward Attorneys’ Real Estate Council (BAREC).   Fund General Counsel Melissa Murphy presented Digital Closings & Remote Online Notarization and provided BAREC members with an update on activities at The Fund.

The Broward REC has also introduced twice-weekly open forums via ZOOM.  The forums, which sometimes feature a speaker and sometimes not, provide an opportunity for BAREC Members to connect and discuss the issues of the day.

On May 13th, the North Dade and Beaches REC held their second ZOOM meeting featuring Marty Kiar, Broward County Property Appraiser.

Late last month, the Palm Beach REC is hosting an online seminar for their members featuring The Fund’s Robert Rohan and his presentation of Legal Malpractice & Real Estate Transactions.

Also planned for later this month, the Polk Area Real Estate Council is planning one of the most creative virtual REC events we’ve seen.  Their Member Forum & Happy Hour will feature a brief presentation on the CARES Act and Payroll Protection Program, but the best part is that the PAREC Board of Directors has arranged to deliver local craft beer to all who register in advance.  So, if you are in Polk County, you won’t want to miss it!
