SPEAKER: Michael J. Gelfand, Gelfand & Arpe, P.A., West Palm Beach

After failing to approve legislation addressing the Champlain Towers South Condominium collapse in the regular 2022 legislative session, the Florida Legislature approved extensive legislation in its second Special Session.  The new legislation impacts all 1,529,764 residential condominium units and 778 cooperative projects in Florida.

Mr. Gelfand is dual Florida Bar Board Certified in Real Estate Law and in Condominium and Planned Development Law, was elected to serve on The Florida Bar’s Board of Governors and chaired the Bar’s Professional Ethics Committee. Managing shareholder of Gelfand & Arpe in West Palm Beach, his practice emphasizes community association law, serving also as an expert witness, an arbitrator and mediator (certified circuit court and county court). Michael is a Past Chair of The Florida Bar’s Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section; a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians; and, a fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers.
