The Attorneys’ Real Estate Council of Palm Beach County collaborated with the 15th Circuit At-Large Member from the Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar (RPPTL) to invite RPPTL members to the REC’s December 3rd Member Meeting.  Over 100 attorneys attended a very timely presentation of Evictions: Where We Are and Where We’re Headed featuring Cindy Guerra, Chief Operating Officer of Courts & Official Records, Clerk of Court, Palm Beach County and Kathy Savor, Esq., Director of Court Operations, Clerk of Court, Palm Beach County.  Speakers addressed the pipeline of eviction cases in their system and how they were being handled, along with the various Federal, Florida and Palm Beach County regulations and orders they are operating under.

On December 9th, the Central Florida Real Estate Attorneys’ Council (CFREAC) held its Annual Holiday Program & Reception.  It was a hybrid event, offering REC members the opportunity to attend in person or via ZOOM.  The program featured presentations by Heather Moraes, of Winderweedle, Haines, Ward & Woodman, P.A., who provided an update on trends in COVID-19 related commercial lease modifications, Camilo Parra, Staff Housing Attorney, Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association, Inc., who discussed the flood of residential evictions impacting Central Florida and Jay Small, of Mateer Harbert, who provided an overview of the impact of pandemic regulations on private property rights.  During the meeting, CFREAC also awarded two $750 scholarships to law students from Florida A&M University Law School and collected toys for their annual Toys for Tots toy drive. 

That same evening, the Broward Attorneys’ Real Estate Council held their Holiday Extravaganza, Social Distancing: The Game Show hosted by Avi Frier.  The event gave members a fun and light-hearted evening with a trivia competition and lots laughs – something we all needed in 2020!

To close out 2020, the Jacksonville Area Real Estate Council hosted a Magical Holiday Party via ZOOM.  JAREC Members received swag bags containing cocktail kits, a Fund mousepad, Florida ARECS umbrella and holiday-themed headgear.  After everyone donned their Santa hats and reindeer antlers, and made their drinks, they competed in a first ever Holiday Edition of Title Teasers for prizes.  Our thanks to JAREC Past President Brenda Ezell, Fund Underwriting Counsel Steven Presley and Jalinda “Jay” Davis, Fund Senior Underwriting Counsel for their work in producing this extraordinary event.
