Message from the President

Lynwood F. Arnold, Jr.

The Florida legal community recently lost one of its finest last month when Lynwood F. Arnold, Jr., passed away on August 18th in Tallahassee.  Lynwood helped create the Attorneys’ Real Estate Councils of Florida in 2014 and had served on our Board ever since.  But that was not his first experience with the RECs.

In 1995, Lynwood teamed up with Mike Mirrington, Fund Senior Underwriting Counsel, and several other Tampa area real estate lawyers to form the Bay Area Real Estate Council (BAREC).  He was BAREC’s first president and remained a member of its Board of Directors until 2017.

Lynwood was deeply committed to the practice of real estate law and made significant contributions to numerous legal organizations.  He was chairman of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Hillsborough County Bar Association and an active member of the Executive Council of the Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar.  Over the years Lynwood chaired multiple committees of the Section including Member & Inclusion, Diversity, Pro Bono, and Law School Programming.  When Lynwood relocated his practice to Tallahassee, he continued his involvement by joining the Leon County Bar Association and the board of the Capital Region Real Estate Council.

Lynwood was loved and respected by so many in our profession.  He leaves behind a legacy of professionalism, generosity and friendship and we will do our best to carry his inspiration into the future.

He is survived by his wife, Laura, two daughters, Magistrate Judge Amanda Arnold Sansone and Mia Arnold, and two grandchildren.
