Realtor® News

Speaking of Law Symposiums, the Attorneys’ Real Estate Council of Palm Beach County and the Broward Attorneys’ Real Estate Councils’ Annual Law Symposiums for the Realtors® of Broward | Palm Beaches | St. Lucie, were planned for this summer but like so many live events, have been canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  The good news is that we are busy reimagining them for the virtual world.  The new program will be shorter to better suit the online environment but will still offer opportunities for our members to network with area real estate agents.

Florida Realtors® announced in late June that they are canceling their Annual Convention & Trade Show scheduled for August 26th and 27th at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando.  Governance meetings, along with more than twenty educational sessions, will now be held virtually.  You can learn more at https://www.floridarealtors.org/events/convention.

On June 17th the Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC) Board passed two motions which affect the ability of a provider to virtually present an otherwise “in-person only” approved course (pre-licensing; post-licensing; continuing education; and instructor education):

  • New emergency order allowing the practice to continue for a new 90-day period (current order expires mid-July)
  • Authorized rule-making to allow the practice to continue until Dec. 31, 2020 since emergency orders cannot exceed 90-days (the new emergency order is needed because rule-making could not be accomplished prior to the end of the current 90-day emergency order)
