Message from the President

By: Patricia A. Nugent, Esq.

I hope you all enjoyed a safe, happy and healthy Holiday Season.  Welcome to 2020!

The Florida ARECS Board of Directors met November 7th during the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar Meeting held at the JW Marriott Marquis in downtown Miami.  Our board now has four directors who are also deeply involved with RPPTL so these events provide a unique opportunity for all of us to meet – and also network with other real estate attorneys.  Here are a few highlights from our meeting.

  • Development of the FLARECS.COM Dashboard is back on schedule for completion in the first quarter of 2020. This new feature will allow RECs to manage most key REC administrative and management functions in one central location.
  • Despite our efforts to communicate regularly through this newsletter and other channels we still commonly hear that REC members are not fully aware of the resources available to them. So, the Florida ARECS Board of Directors will be sending a letter to all REC Board Members highlighting the benefits of membership and listing some key tools and resources you may want to take advantage of!
  • We are very proud to announce our upcoming Florida ARECS Law Symposium for the Miami Association of Realtors® scheduled for March 6, 2020 at the Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood. This will be Florida ARECS’ first partnership with the largest association of Realtors® in the country, serving over 47,000 members! Our full day program will feature REC members and other experts from across the state.  If you are in the area, you won’t want to miss it.
  • The Assembly REC Leadership Luncheon is an event that is held every year to bring together leaders from all of the local Real Estate Councils during Fund Assembly, so they can share information with each other and learn more about what is happening at the state level. This year the Florida ARECS Board of Directors will invite ALL REC members to attend the 2020 meeting. You will have the opportunity to register for the Assembly REC Leadership Luncheon when you register to attend Fund Assembly beginning in February.  Please keep in mind that seating is limited so register early to reserve your spot.

Finally, the Florida ARECS Board has formed three committees to focus on reaching three of our key constituents – Realtors®, Consumers and Law Schools & Students.  I look forward to sharing more information on these efforts soon.
