September & October - Message from the Board

Florida ARECS just returned from the 2017 Florida Realtors® Convention and Trade Show on at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando. Our Board of Directors met with representatives of numerous local Realtor® associations while local REC member attorneys staffed the trade show booth. Together we had the opportunity to share our important message about the value of involving a real estate attorney in real estate transactions with over 4,000 real estate professionals. Presenting yourself in front of real estate agents is one of the most effective ways to market yourself and so we would like to present another opportunity for you to consider: becoming an approved Florida Realtors® Instructor. As an approved instructor you gain access to Florida Realtors® library of over one hundred programs already accredited by the Florida Real Estate Commission for continuing education credit. The process to become a Florida Realtors® Instructor is extensive. It begins with a 2-day training workshop followed by an audition in front a panel from Florida Realtors® Professional Development Committee. The process is intended to help potential instructors hone their presentation skills so they can provide a dynamic learning experience for their audience.

There are approximately 100 approved instructors and yet only 6 are attorneys!  As a result, non-lawyers are being called upon to teach legal topics so Florida ARECS believes it is essential that more attorneys get involved to teach Florida Realtors® legal curriculum. This will ensure real estate licensees receive the quality legal education they need and provide REC member attorneys opportunities to promote themselves to an audience that can direct business to them. If you would like more information about becoming a Florida Realtors® Instructor, contact Joann Casiano, Education Resources Coordinator with Florida Realtors®, at (407) 438-1400.
