On March 7th the Escambia-Santa Rosa Real Estate Council voted to elect new officers and directors. This group is moving quickly! They hosted their first membership meeting on April 12th and have already scheduled their first Realtor event for June 15th. Congratulations to them all!

The Bay Area Real Estate Council (BAREC) collaborated with The Fund to present Using and Understanding the Residential Contract for Sale and Purchase to more than one hundred members of the West Pasco Board of Realtors on March 22nd. Maggie Thumberg, The Fund’s Senior Underwriting Counsel & Legal and Branch Education Manager, led attendees through a review of the new FR/BAR 5 contract. This course is accredited by the Florida Real Estate Commission so licensees earned 3 hours of CE credit.

On March 23rd the new Real Estate Attorneys’ Council of the Heartland (REACH) introduced itself to nearly forty real estate attorney from six area counties. Speakers included Fund President & CEO Jimmy Jones, Fund Senior Vice President Melissa Murphy and REACH’s President John McClure.

The new Polk Area Real Estate Council (PAREC) took their turn on April 6th when they welcomed local real estate attorneys to their introductory event. PAREC President David A. Miller of Peterson & Myers presented his vision of the new organization and invited attendees to get involved. Miller and his board have reached out personally to area attorneys resulting in nearly twenty new members in a month.

On April 11th the Emerald Coast Real Estate Council hosted both attorneys and real estate agents for a presentation of Stopping Cyber Fraud by The Fund’s Melissa Murphy. Michael Chesser and Shannon Widman, members of the Emerald Coast board of directors, took the unique opportunity to address attendees regarding other local issues.

The Attorneys Real Estate Council of Palm Beach County welcomed one of its own, Guy Rabideau, who presented an update on the changes to the FR/BAR Contract. Rabideau is a member of the Joint Realtor®/Attorney Committee that promulgates the commonly used contract. Nearly fifty real estate attorneys attended the event at the beautiful Seagate Hotel & Spa in Delray Beach.
