Message from the Board

On August 25th and 26th, Florida ARECS hosted a booth at the 2016 Florida Realtors® Convention and Trade Show. The Florida ARECS Board of Directors has worked tirelessly to establish a relationship with Florida Realtors® and our participation in their convention was an extension of that effort. Fourteen volunteers representing Florida ARECS and seven local RECS descended on Orlando to share our message with the more than 3,000 real estate agents attending this year's event.

Tips from Florida ARECS

Tip #1:
Create or Join a Committee

REC leaders are "do-ers" but sometimes they take on too much. Don't try to do everything yourself. Delegate responsibility by creating committees or individual chairpersons to focus on your REC's most important objectives like Membership and Programming. Committees are also a great way to involve your general membership. Invite them to participate on a committee. You may find it is a stepping stone for new board members. Not a REC leader (yet)? Contact your RECs leadership to see if you can join a committee. It's an easy way to get involved and expand your professional network.

Tip #2:
Meeting Venues

Meeting venues set the tone for your event. If your meeting attendance is low consider whether or not your venue is playing a part in that. Admittedly it can be hard to find a location that is suitably private, affordable and convenient to the members. If budget is an issue consider hosting fewer meetings at nicer venues. Or perhaps you need to evaluate your annual dues. Are they at the right level to achieve your objectives? Make your REC meeting an event that no one wants to miss.
